What is published and what is not

The published HTB Business pricing surface lives at hackthebox.com/business/pricing. As of writing, the public tiers are:

  • Build - self-serve. $250 per seat per month, or $2,500 per seat per year. 14-day free trial. Includes a subset of the platform features aimed at smaller teams running team training and lightweight evaluation.

The sales-gated tiers (Grow, Scale, Government, Education) sit above Build with custom quotes. We are not going to invent specific numbers for these because the numbers vary by buyer and HTB does not publish them, but customer reports and industry hearsay suggest the upgrade from Build to Grow typically lands in the low-to-mid five figures USD annually depending on seat count, and Scale tier deployments at large enterprises are six-figure annual contracts.

The hiring-specific features (Talent Search, dedicated hiring workflows, advanced reporting, custom-branded candidate-facing assessments) sit in Grow and above.

What HTB Business actually charges for

The pricing variables that matter:

  • Seat count. HTB Business is per-seat. A “seat” is an active learner or admin user. For training use cases the seat count maps to your team size; for hiring use cases the seat count is admins plus active candidates.
  • Tier. Build vs Grow vs Scale vs Government vs Education. Each unlocks more features and (presumably) costs more per seat.
  • Annual versus monthly. Annual billing carries a discount; the published Build tier shows the gap clearly ($250/mo vs $208/mo annualised).
  • Talent Search access. The opted-in cyber talent marketplace is a separately gated capability on the higher tiers.
  • Custom labs and content development. If you want HTB to build bespoke content for your team, that is a separately scoped engagement.

The Build tier specifically is interesting because it is the only fully-public price point in the cyber assessment market for a serious cyber-content platform. $250/seat/month gives you self-serve access without a sales call. For a team of 3-5 admins running internal training, that is genuinely a defensible mid-market price.

The catch for hiring teams is that the Build tier does not give you the hiring-grade features you actually need. To get private content (so candidates do not see the same labs that have YouTube walkthroughs), Talent Search access, custom-branded candidate flows and hiring-specific reporting, you need to be in Grow or above. And those tiers are demo-gated.

What is not in the headline price

Same caveats as any enterprise SaaS evaluation:

  • Annual escalation. Multi-year contracts often include a 3-5% annual uplift.
  • Implementation and onboarding. Larger deployments may carry one-time setup fees.
  • Custom content development. If you want HTB to build a specific scenario calibrated to a role you are hiring for, that is typically out of scope of the standard subscription.
  • Premium support tiers. Standard support is included; faster SLAs and named contacts cost more on enterprise tiers.
  • The HTB Pro Labs (consumer side) is separate. If you want to use Pro Labs content, that is its own product line with its own pricing.

For a cyber hiring team budgeting against HTB Business, expect to add 15-25% to the headline annual quote to cover the all-in first-year cost.

What HTB’s pricing tells you about the platform

HTB’s pricing model is unusually honest by enterprise-SaaS standards. The Build tier is genuinely self-serve. The trial is genuinely free. The price is genuinely on the website for the smaller tiers. That deserves credit.

The pricing tells you three things about who HTB Business is built for:

  1. They serve a wide spectrum. Build at $250/seat/month is for small training teams. Scale tier with Talent Search is for large enterprise SOC operations. Same product, different tiers, different prices.
  2. They expect a sales cycle for serious deployments. The features cyber hiring teams actually need (private content, hiring-grade reporting, Talent Search) sit above the published tier. That tells you what HTB thinks “hiring-grade” actually means - it means an enterprise procurement conversation.
  3. The pricing model assumes training and hiring are bundled. You are paying for a cyber training platform that also does hiring, not for a hiring platform specifically. The price calculations reflect that bundle.
